Question 1

What is MindTime?

Accepted Answer

MindTime is a meditation timer app with 30 curated ambient soundscapes. Set custom session lengths, add meditation bells, mix sounds together, and track your mindfulness journey.

Question 2

How do I get started with MindTime?

Accepted Answer

Download the app, choose a soundscape or start with silence, set your session length, and tap start. You can customize bells, mix sounds, and track your sessions over time.

Question 3

Is MindTime available on my device?

Accepted Answer

MindTime is available on Android and iOS devices. The app works on phones and tablets.

Question 4

Do I need to create an account to use MindTime?

Accepted Answer

No. You can use MindTime without creating an account and store data locally. Creating an account enables cloud sync for presets, mixes, and session history.

Question 5

How can I support MindTime?

Accepted Answer

Share MindTime, leave an honest store review, or send us your ideas. All app features are free to use.

Question 6

Does MindTime include guided meditations?

Accepted Answer

No. MindTime is a timer for self-directed practice: you set the length, choose the bells and pick a soundscape, and the app stays out of the way. There is no voice talking you through the session, which is the point — if you want a narrated course, MindTime is not that app.

Question 7

How long should a session be?

Accepted Answer

Whatever you will actually do daily. Five or ten minutes every day builds the habit faster than half an hour once a week. MindTime lets you set any duration, so start short and lengthen it when sitting still stops feeling like work.

Question 8

Do I need any experience to meditate with MindTime?

Accepted Answer

No. Set a length, pick a bell to open and close the session, and sit. The timer handles the clock so you are not checking your phone, which is most of what a beginner needs.

Question 9

What soundscapes does MindTime offer?

Accepted Answer

MindTime offers 30 curated soundscapes including rain, ocean waves, forest ambience, white noise, healing frequencies, lo-fi beats, singing bowls, and more.

Question 10

Can I mix multiple sounds together?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The sound mixer lets you layer multiple soundscapes, adjust each volume, and save custom mixes for quick access.

Question 11

How do meditation bells work?

Accepted Answer

Choose meditation bells for session start, end, and intervals. They help you return to the present without needing to check the screen.

Question 12

Can I use MindTime for sleep?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Many users use MindTime's soundscapes for sleep, with fade-out and timer options to stop playback automatically.

Question 13

How does session tracking work?

Accepted Answer

MindTime tracks meditation duration, time of day, streaks, total minutes, and consistency over time.

Question 14

Can I download soundscapes for offline use?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Favorite soundscapes can be downloaded for offline use, and session data syncs when you are back online.

Question 15

Can I add interval bells during a session?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Alongside the opening and closing bells you can place bells at intervals through the session — useful for marking stages of a longer sit, or as a gentle check-in that brings your attention back.

Question 16

Will sound keep playing when I lock my phone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Audio continues with the screen off and appears in your device's media controls, so you can start a session and put the phone down.

Question 17

Can MindTime remind me to meditate?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can schedule reminders for the times you intend to practise. They need notification permission, which the app asks for when you set your first reminder.

Question 18

How do streaks work?

Accepted Answer

Completing a session marks the day. Consecutive marked days build a streak, and your session history shows what you have done over time. It is there to make consistency visible, not to punish a missed day.

Question 19

Is there a home screen widget?

Accepted Answer

On Android, yes — you can start a session straight from the home screen. There is no iOS widget yet.

Question 20

Is everything in MindTime free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All MindTime features are free to use, including the timer, bells, soundscapes, mixer, session tracking, and journal. No subscription or lifetime purchase is required.

Question 21

Do I need a subscription or lifetime purchase?

Accepted Answer

No. You can use all MindTime features without a subscription or a lifetime purchase.

Question 22

How do I cancel an existing subscription?

Accepted Answer

If an earlier purchase still appears as an active subscription, manage or cancel it in your App Store or Google Play account. Making app features free does not cancel a store subscription for you.

Question 23

Will I lose my data if I cancel an existing subscription?

Accepted Answer

No. Your session history, custom mixes, and preferences remain available, and all app features are free to use.

Question 24

Can I request a refund for an earlier purchase?

Accepted Answer

Request a refund through the App Store or Google Play account used for the purchase. The store reviews the request under its refund policy.

Question 25

Are all soundscapes and custom mixes free?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The full soundscape library and mixer are free to use, along with bells, tracking, and the journal.

Question 26

Does free use expire after a trial?

Accepted Answer

No. You do not need to start a paid trial to use MindTime, and there is no trial countdown for the free app features.

Question 27

Can I export my meditation data?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can export your session history from the app settings for backup or personal analysis.

Question 28

How do I delete my account and data?

Accepted Answer

Go to account settings in the app and choose delete account. Export anything you want to keep first because deletion is permanent.

Question 29

Does MindTime work offline?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The timer, bells, and downloaded soundscapes work offline.

Question 30

Can I write notes after a session?

Accepted Answer

Yes. MindTime includes a journal, so you can record how a sit went while it is fresh. Entries stay attached to the session so your history is more than a list of durations.

Question 31

Does MindTime sync between my devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes, session history syncs when you are signed in, so the same practice record shows up on your phone and tablet. Without an account the data stays on the device it was recorded on.

Question 32

Is my data secure?

Accepted Answer

MindTime uses standard security practices for data in transit and at rest and avoids unnecessary sensitive permissions.

Question 33

What information does MindTime collect?

Accepted Answer

MindTime collects information needed to provide the service, such as session history, account data for sync, and anonymous usage data for improvements.

Question 34

Is my data backed up?

Accepted Answer

If you create an account, your presets, session history, and preferences can sync through the cloud.

Question 35

What permissions does MindTime need?

Accepted Answer

Only notifications, and only if you want reminders. The timer, the bells and the soundscapes all work without granting anything.

Question 36

Where is my session data stored?

Accepted Answer

On your device by default. It is uploaded only if you sign in for sync, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers.

Question 37

Sounds are not playing. How can I fix this?

Accepted Answer

Check device volume, silent mode, other audio apps, and downloaded sound files. Restart the app if needed.

Question 38

Cloud sync is not working. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Check your account connection, sign out and back in, and make sure you have a stable internet connection.

Question 39

The app is slow or crashing. What should I do?

Accepted Answer

Install the latest version, restart the app and device, and contact support with your device details if the issue continues.

Question 40

My reminders are not arriving. What should I check?

Accepted Answer

First check that notifications are allowed for MindTime in your system settings — this is the usual cause. On Android, also check that battery optimization is not restricting the app, since that can stop scheduled reminders from firing.

Question 41

Audio stopped when my screen turned off. How do I fix it?

Accepted Answer

This is almost always battery optimization shutting the app down in the background. Exclude MindTime from battery optimization in your Android system settings and playback will continue with the screen off.

Question 42

What other apps are in this privacy-first suite?

Accepted Answer

MindTime is part of a privacy-first suite of daily utility apps. Our sister apps include Momental (sleep soundscapes & ambient noise), ReSubs (privacy-focused subscription tracking and management), Moviebase (movie & TV tracking for over 1M users), and StreamGuide (streaming service discovery).

Question 43

What is the difference between MindTime and Momental?

Accepted Answer

MindTime is focused on mindful meditation timing, intervals, session tracking, and journal reflections. Momental focuses specifically on sleep soundscapes, sleep timers, and continuous ambient background noise.

Question 44

Can I use MindTime as an online browser timer without installing the app?

Accepted Answer

Yes! MindTime offers an interactive browser-based meditation timer built with the Web Audio API, letting you run sessions directly on web browsers without any download.

Question 45

How can I keep track of subscriptions in other apps?

Accepted Answer

Our sister app ReSubs helps you organize your digital subscriptions. MindTime itself requires no subscription or lifetime purchase.
